Michael Orr is the founder and lead instructor at At The Ready, a Las Vegas-based firearms training company established in 2008. With over 15 years of professional firearms instruction experience and a lifelong commitment to personal defense and preparedness, Michael brings deep expertise and a uniquely diverse background to every course he teaches.

Michael is a certified instructor through the NRA, USCCA, and holds instructor credentials for Nevada and Utah Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permits. His instructional experience spans a wide spectrum of firearms training, including:

As an active competitor in USPSA since 2010 (ID: A-74871), he brings the dynamic, real-world perspective of sport shooting into his civilian defense instruction.

Michael’s professional experience extends far beyond firearms. He has worked overseas with the U.S. State Department, served as an EMT on a rescue squad, and participated in Mountain Search and Rescue (MSAR) missions. His global experiences — living in Japan, the Philippines, and the Solomon Islands — have given him an adaptable, culturally grounded approach to training and crisis preparedness.

A lifelong maker and problem-solver, Michael also channels his creativity into building Mad Max-style vehicles, combining rugged functionality with a spirit of self-reliance.
